The star has earned its symbolic real estate. Celestial guidance, hope, renewal, the particular kind of optimism that survives difficult things and comes out the other side still oriented toward light. In tarot, The Star is the Major Arcana card that follows The Tower, which is to say: it's the card that shows up after everything falls apart and reminds you that the sky is still there.

Maura Green's Luminescent Star pendant is a worthy interpretation. Starting with abalone shell, hand-carved into a star silhouette, the piece opens with that signature blue-green iridescent shift that abalone does better than almost any other natural material. Over that, a layer of clear chalcedony adds something quieter: a misty, glowing translucency that softens the vivid flash of the shell and creates a depth that changes as the light moves around it. At the center, a round brilliant cut white diamond provides a clean focal point. The setting is yellow gold, warm against the cool luminosity of the shell.

Because each pendant is hand-carved from natural materials, no two will ever be identical. Wear it solo for a statement with some depth to it, or layer it with other talisman-style pieces to build something that tells your particular story.

    FAQ

Does this come with a chain?
No. This listing is for the pendant only. Chain length and style are personal enough that we'd rather help you find the right match than assume. Reach out and we'll sort it out together.

Will my pendant look exactly like the one in the photo?
Close, but not identical, and that's genuinely part of what makes this piece worth owning.  Abalone in particular is one of the more optically complex materials to photograph: the blue-green shift it produces changes with angle, light source, and distance in ways a camera can approximate but not fully capture. Add monitor settings, browser configurations, and device screens to the mix, and what you see online will always be an approximation. The real thing tends to be worth the gap.

What is chalcedony, and what does it add to this design?
Chalcedony is a form of quartz with a milky, translucent quality that diffuses light rather than reflecting it sharply. In this pendant, the clear chalcedony layer sits over the abalone, softening its vivid iridescence with a quieter glow. The result is a piece that has both flash and depth, which is harder to achieve than it sounds.

How can I wear this pendant?
It works beautifully on its own: the size, the materials, and the star form give it enough presence to carry a look solo. It also layers naturally with other talisman-style pendants if you're building a more personal, collected look. Because the palette is rooted in blue-green iridescence and warm gold, it plays well with a lot.
