Julie's work is vintage and Art Deco in spirit, built around opals, Kingman turquoise, rose-cut diamonds, and the occasional Roman coin pendant, mostly one-of-a-kind. She trained at Parsons while working New York's Diamond District, won the MJSA Gold Distinction, and casts her in-house pieces in recycled gold as a matter of course, not marketing.

A double-header! The August ArtWalk features two designers that form a great representation of the breadth of designers we carry. At one end of the spectrum: Serafino Consoli, with diamond and gemstone rings that expand up to 10 sizes or convert to bracelets and Julie Romanenko, a long-time designer in our stable, whose work involves upcycled antique elements, beautiful turquoise, ancient coins, and anything else that's inspriing her! Her collection is ever-changing, and mostly one-of-a-kind.

Serafino Consoli visits Alara August 14 and 15, bringing the Brevetto collection: precision-engineered rings that expand up to ten sizes or convert entirely into bracelets without losing an ounce of drama. It's traditional Italian goldsmithing paired with genuinely inventive construction, rich gemstones, and sinuous forms, resulting in fine jewelry that moves with the wearer instead of holding them at arm's length. One size fits all has never looked this good.

Alara's most popular event of the year, the Montana Sapphire Round-Up is August 21st through 23rd. Our premier supplier arrives with over 1,000 loose Montana sapphires for guests to view, try, and buy, with 20% off all loose Montana sapphires while the event lasts. Custom jewelry designers are on hand to help turn a chosen stone into a finished piece. Viewing hours run August 21st from 10a to 4p, and August 22nd and 23rd from 10a to 6p, at the Alara Gallery location at 42 W. Main.

The evening of August 21st also brings the ticketed Montana Sapphire Roundtable, held at Alara's Atelier location at 424 E. Main. Guests get a seat at the table to handle loose sapphires directly with a sapphire guide, paired with wine and conversation. [see separate event listing]

The Montana Sapphire Roundtable is a ticketed evening event on Friday, August 21st from 7pm to 9pm at Atelier Alara in the Jacob's Crossing Building, 424 E. Main in downtown Bozeman. Only 20 seats are available. Guests take a seat at the table with about 100 loose Montana sapphires from Alara's premier supplier, Hudson and Company, and learn to open a stone paper, handle a gem, and use a loupe before the stones start making their way around the room. Anyone can place "dibs" on a stone as it passes, and every purchase made during the event comes with a 20% discount.

The $25 ticket includes a $50 Alara gift card good for a year, a personal stone cloth, loupe, and gem pad, wine and other drinks, and guided gemstone education throughout the evening. Stones range from $300 to $21,000, with most falling between $1,500 and $3,500.
