Founded by Clémence Masson in 2015, Gisel B draws inspiration from the beauty of Clémence’s roots on the Normandy coast and the skills she learned from her grandmother Gisèle, a seamstress who specialized in intricate Calais lace. The name "Gisel B" is a tribute to this legacy of artistry.
Clémence’s path to jewelry was anything but ordinary. With a background in Human and Political Sciences, she spent time working in child welfare before taking a leap of faith and starting her own brand. For Clémence, creating jewelry is more than just design—it's about questioning old norms and offering something fresh, sustainable, and thoughtful. Gisel B pieces reflect this ethos, with handcrafted jewelry that feels both contemporary and timeless–reflecting a perfect blend of French artistry and contemporary style.
In addition to leading Gisel B, Clémence shares her passion for marketing and communication as a professor at Aix Marseille University. Her work reflects her belief that the jewelry world needs more transparency, sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity. Transparency begins with materials, of course. By utilizing recycled gold for heavy (European-style) plating on all necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, the Gisel B collection offers the richness of gold at an affordable price point. The entire collection is nickel- and lead-free, with earwires being vermeil (sterling silver that is plated with gold), and the remainder having a brass base.
