Stephen Estelle

Bozeman-based designer Stephen Estelle draws from a rich, cross-cultural journey rooted in both art and philosophy. After studying art and literature in Europe, he developed a deep interest in Buddhism and the Tibetan language—an interest that led him to Nepal, where he spent five years studying Buddhist philosophy at a monastery.

While there, he apprenticed with a family of master goldsmiths whose lineage spans more than four centuries, once creating jewelry for Nepal’s royal family from an estate granted in 1782. These artisans continue to uphold the traditions of their forebears, carrying forward techniques shaped over generations.

For more than two decades, Stephen has collaborated with this guild, blending their time-honored craftsmanship with a distinctly modern perspective. His work is guided by the belief that elegance requires simplicity—designs begin complex and are thoughtfully refined to their essence. Every piece is entirely hand-forged, never cast or machined, with careful attention paid to even the smallest detail—because each element contributes to the integrity and lasting beauty of the whole.
